Jamie is 11 months old!!

Jamie is 11 months old!!

It is almost impossible for me to believe that Jamie is going to be a year old in just 1 short month! The one piece of baby advice I received that was definitely true is the fact that the first year goes by very quickly. Too quickly, in my opinion. My little girl is all growed up!

Jamie continues with her sassy little personality in her 11th month. Besides waving “bye, bye,” clapping patty cake, and answering her phone(“h-lo”), Jamie now enjoys shaking her head “No,” at us! It’s too funny, and makes it very difficult to be serious when I really do want to say no to her to stop doing whatever it is she’s getting into.

Jamie’s also been adding to her vocabulary. She now has about 8-10 words in her vocabulary. I’ve heard her say “bye, bye,” “baby,” and a few animal sounds, too! She “baaaaas,” like a goat, “moooos,” like a cow, and she even tried to say “oink” the other day. She also says, “pat, pat, pat.”

Jamie has not started walking yet, but she has taken a few steps. Actually, she took her first two steps on her Grandpa Tow’s birthday! Instead of walking on her own, she likes to push around her stroller, the walker, and a few of her walking toys.

Jamie’s favorite thing to do these days is have dance parties! We turn the tv on to a music channel and Jamie dances while crawling and playing with her toys. I can’t wait to put her into Miss Linda’s Dance studio next year when she turns two!

Jamie still loves reading. Her favorite books are the touch and feel books. She raelly loves the animal touch and feel book we have which is where she learned the animal sounds (thanks to Daddy).

As always, Jamie is still a great eater. She prefers to feed herself now, and is finally eating gluten and poultry. She LOVES turkey burgers! She’s also a bean eater. I think her favorites are still mandarin oranges and pancakes. She just can’t get enough of them. Annie’s mac & cheese is coming in a close second, though.  🙂 We’re also transitioning her from the bottle to sippy cup. She only drinks from a bottle at night before bed and is down to 16 oz of formula a day. We’ll be weaning her completely off the bottle and formula by the time she’s one.

Jamie’s such a big girl now that we’ve transitioned her into 18 month clothes now. Some of the pants are a little long, but they still fit well. She’s also still in size 4 diapers.

Jamie’s personality is starting to shine, and I know this is only the beginning. Only one more month before she becomes a toddler. Yikes!

Calgon take me away…

Calgon take me away…

I am no longer myself. I am just an empty zombie of my former self. I am just sooooo tired. Every year I think it’s going to be the year I get used to waking up at 5 am. Today is day 2 and I admit defeat. 😦

Honestly, the hardest part has been leaving Jamie again. I certainly got spoiled this summer getting to be with her every morning and all day. I miss my mornings with her. Even Jamie doesn’t wake up at freaking 5 am in the morning. Thankfully, she has the courtesy to wake me up after 7 am.

Speaking of Jamie, she’s actually becoming more sassy as she gets older. Jamie’s new trick? Biting. Yes, she likes to bite shoulders, and my wrist, and my toes! She loves to bite my toes!!! Ack, I hate feet, so this is really a travesty for me.

But you know what’s worse than a toe biting baby?? A baby that’s growing up! She’s going to be 11 months tomorrow! Yikes! In one more month I’ll have a toddler. Someone pass me my solo cup filled with cheap boxed wine. Stat!

Unreal.

Karma

I made it through the first week back at school without incident. It’s definitely weird being back without my second half. For one, it is very quiet in the room. Two, there are just so many weird things happening at school with staff and other things. I don’t know. Without being too convoluted, I’ll just say that past friends don’t appear as friendly, old enemies don’t seem as scary, and nothing is what it seems. LOL…ok, that’s pretty confusing.

I’d like to say I’m ready for Monday with the kids, but I’m not. Doing two people’s jobs is not conducive to getting things done quickly, so yeah. Not ready. I’ve got my syllabus printed out though, so I figure I’ll just take it day by day. But, still…Monday is a pretty big day for me on both professional and personal levels. If I could wake up a week later, it would be wonderful.

The most notable difference this year, besides the fact that I’m boss around my parts, is my new neighbor…..

I once wrote a very passive aggressive post (what else is new, right?) about a teacher at school that pissed me off. I won’t even link to it, cause I think my reader base is bigger now and I don’t wish to get myself into trouble. Anyway, this teacher I wrote about is now the said neighbor.

I’m thinking this is double karma. You know the whole “the goes around comes around,” philosophy? I talked shit about him one day when he pissed me off so he’s my new neighbor. He complained about my program and now he gets to listen to opening circle, closing circle, free play, regular play, painting, rainy days inside, and well, lot’s of preschool noises…..all.day.long.

Muahahahahahahahaha!

Summer has officially ended

Summer has officially ended

I made it to my first day back at school without Carol and I did not cry!

Yay for me!

AND, yay for the night crew thatstayed late to put all my furniture back on Friday night so that I wouldn’t have to do it myself today. Love those guys! I made sure to give them a big thanks. I should probably bring them donuts or something this week.

It was definitely hard leaving Jamie again this morning. I got spoiled over the summer spending 24/7 with her. I stood at the front door for at least 5 minutes waving bye bye to her, but then I managed to drag myself to my car and get my ass to work.

So, want to know the best thing about the school year starting back up? Lilly Pulitzer Agenda’s. I just got mine in the mail today and I’m suuuperr excited to fill it up.

Now, excuse me while I got put on my nerd glasses and play with my new toy.

So long icky neighbor

So long icky neighbor

If you’ve been following this blog for a while (like since 2008), then you may remember this guy in my neighborhood who liked to parade around his driveway in a speedo.

It was pretty horrible. Actually, just the other day he was out and about in the ole speedo again, but this time I refrained from snapping any pictures.

Weelllll….the old guy, his wife, and his super ugly dog (I mean it. I know it’s like saying a baby is ugly, but this dog was fugly) moved out today!

So weird! All this time we’ve been annoyed that he lets his dog run around without a leash and his indecent exposure in that nasty speedo, but when we saw the moving van and then him and his wife leave, it was kind of sad. 😦

When else am I going to crouch behind my car and sneak pictures of an old man in underwear? I’m pretty sure it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. (Actually, I should probably be careful what I wish for, since someone new is probably moving in soon…)

We’ll miss you pervy guy and your ugly dog! (ok, not really)

Only good in Theory

Only good in Theory

In an effort to look skinnier for ladies night last night, I chose to wear two sets of spanx.

Muahahahahahahaha!

Um, ok. Spanx underwear under regular spanx (or “double spankin’ it” as I like to affectionately call it) was a very good idea in theory.

I mean, I think I did look skinnier in my new dress if I do say so myself.

However, double spankin’ it after a martini and a couple of skinny rita’s is not a good idea.

Not good.

No, ma’am.

Just sayin.
