Many of you know that I’m a member of the Junior League. I joined the Tampa chapter in 2007 and I’ve been an active member ever since. I’ve truly enjoyed my time in the Junior League, however I realized that I needed to make some changes in my life now that Jamie is here.
Soooo, I transferred into the Clearwater/Dunedin League this year. It’s closer to my home, which means easier to get to! It also means that I am directly impacting children in my community, which in turn could mean I’m further impacting my students. This was very important to me, and pretty much the catalyst for the change. It was not an easy decision. I went back and forth on this for a while, but after our first meeting tonight I know I made the right decision!
Tonight was my first night meeting the JLCD women. I couldn’t stay the whole meeting, but it was very worth the time I was there. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly! I sat next to some very sweet girls and I felt very comfortable and relieved about this! In my last league I knew several girls when I first came in, and this time I only knew one (a sorority sister and fellow blogger, Lora!). It’s not easy walking into a group of women who are already buddy buddy, but tonight it kind of was.
This chapter is much smaller, but I think tighter knit than my last one. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and joining a new project! As always, I’ll keep you updated on my new Junior League adventures!
PS- it didn’t hurt that they serve wine at their meetings, too. Wine is good. 🙂
