Mommy-Butt Monday

Well, I am officially 5 weeks post partum and I’ve decided I’m ready to start my exercise regime. Last week I tested the waters by jog walking 3 miles for 4 days. I felt great and I actually felt stir-crazy this weekend when I didn’t get a chance to exercise.

Ok, I don’t think it will come to a surprise to you that while walking one day I heard “Dance, too much booty in my pants” on my iPod and was inspired to start documenting my post baby weight loss journey. It doesn’t take much to get the wheels turning in this crazy brain…

Would you like the good news or the bad news first?

How about the bad news?

Originally I had planned on taking a picture of my mommy-butt (clothed) and post it on here every week to see my transformation.

The good news is that I’m not going to do that. 🙂

BUT, I am going to post an update of things such as exercise, weight gain/loss, and fitting into my skinny jeans (please, please, please!). This is mostly for me- documentation to keep me accountable. But, it can also be for anyone else who wants to join along.

My plan of attack:

1) Eat good foods.
2) P90X
3) Lots of Caffeine

How I will document it:

1) Post a before picture for each phase of P90X
2) I won’t bore you with the exact details of pounds lost, etc. I’ll just jot down loss or gain. (hopefully losses only!)
3) Fat jean and Skinny Jean status. I’m not even in my fat jeans, yet. So, I’ll have to document both

It will be posted weekly (on Monday’s- duh!) and look like this:

Weight gain/loss: -1 or +??? (That’s not going to happen, so I’m not even going to jinx myself with a number)
Fat Jean status: Negative (negative means it didn’t fit- ow! Positive means it fit)
Skinny Jean status: Negative (boo!)

I’ll also notate if I was able to stick to the exercise routine and/or diet for the week. Every once in a while I’ll post a picture.

My goal here is to lose at least 20 pounds. I am one of those who gained more than the allotted 25-30 lbs in pregnancy. I gained 60 pounds. Let’s just get that out in the open. I ate ice cream every day and it felt good to do it, and I don’t regret it. So, there!

I’ve already lost 37 pounds. So, I have about 20 to get to my pre-pregnancy, but I gained 15 before that from the IVF, so I would like to lose that, too. Is 35 pounds too much to ask?? I’d like to do this by Spring Break (end of March).

Alright, against my better judgement I will bestow upon you my “before” picture.

Wish me luck. I’m about to power up my P90X cd after my next post…

  1. I joined Weight Watchers two weeks ago and have lost seven pounds without exercising. I am breastfeeding/pumping (which helps a lot) but if you're looking for a way to keep track of what you're eating really easily, their mobile app is fantastic. Free one week trial if you're interested. I'm in this with you if it makes you feel better. I have nine Emma pounds to lose, ten Jack pounds and ten Randy pounds (his cooking is way too good).

  2. Good luck! I've decided to just not bother trying until I go back to work. I lost the baby weight but I still hate my shape and want to lose another 30 lbs. We're on the third floor now so I'm going to start by taking the stairs and my lunch every day and then start adding to that. I think it's doable.

  3. You're awesome! I have a spark people account that I track all my food and fitness in. I don't know if you want to do that or not, but I think there is a way to be "friends" on it and we could encourage each other etc? Let me know if you want to do it!
