The Junior League of Tampa is back in session as of this Tuesday. We had our first meeting of the 2010-2011 year with guest speaker, Nick Cox, from DCF (Department of Children and Families).
Besides that fact that he was very funny, he also talked about a cause close to my heart- Foster Care and Adoption.
During the last couple of years of Infertility, I seriously considered taking in foster children or adopting. Even though I’m ready to give birth in a couple of weeks or so, I still think about it. People say that things happen for a reason and maybe our Infertility struggle happened so that we could take in a child ourselves. I still don’t know the answer to that question, but I find myself always looking back at the Heart Gallery and wondering what the future holds.
So, I wanted to put in a little plug for a new program that the Heart Gallery is sponsoring called Birthday Buddies.
Remember how important birthday’s were to you as a child? Well, think about foster children. Not only is it the most important day of the year for them, but they don’t always have someone to plan something special for them on that exciting day. This program puts 100% of your donation specifically to be utilized for the children of the Heart Gallery. Here’s how it breaks down:
•Your $25 donation provides a birthday gift for a child in foster care
•Your $50 donation provides a birthday gift and a cake for a child in foster care
•Your $100 donation provides a birthday party for 6, gift and cake for a child in foster care
•Your donation in any amount will make a difference in the life of a foster child
