Houston, we have a heartbeat!

Houston, we have a heartbeat!

Today, I had an appointment with my new midwife, Jan. I thought she was great, but the best part was that I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time! It was so amazing and made things even more real than the ultrasound did. It sounded strong, HEALTHY, and fast. Jan says it was around 150 bpm. I’m finally starting to let my guard down and get excited. I just can’t believe this is finally happening for us. I’m going to be a mom!!

PS- My sister and cousin have loving nicknamed the baby Tiny. As in Tiny Tow. Matt and I love it, so looks like we’ve got a “name” until we learn the sex of the baby! 🙂

PPS- looks like I have another ultrasound in about 2 weeks to screen for birth defects.

  1. Yay!! Glad you got to hear the heartbeat, that is so exciting! I am glad you like Jan too. I have met with her once. Maybe next time you can meet Kathy, she is the one who delivered Ty.

  2. That is wonderful!!!! Haha “Tiny Tow!””I really hope I’m not being too nosy/pushy…but can I ask where you’re going? I am completely feed up with my Dr and I plan on switching to another as soon as we conceive. If you’d like to email me, it’s seedsproutswell@gmail.comAnd, when I wrote my blog about not wanting people I know in real life to know if and when I become pregnant, I was NOT talking about you. Other people don’t understand, and I don’t want to open up to them until I’m sure about things. Thanks Suzanne!

  3. Yea! What a fun week for you…. getting to see the baby twice! Are you going to a new practice now? I want my baby countdown to look like yours! I’m still in the scary-looking-what-is-that-thing phase!

  4. Rhiannon- I don’t think Kathy is there anymore. They have a new Dr. instead.Rebecca- I go to Dr. Vendeland’s office. She has a nurse midwife, so I see her, but the Dr. is there as an option if I need it. I’ve only gone there once, but so far I like it. It’s located at Tampa Rd and McMullen booth in Palm Harbor. Also, do not worry about your post about not wanting people IRL knowing about a pregnancy when it happens. I don’t blame you! After all, I did set up a private blog to talk about my own stuff! LOL! Even if you did mean me, I don’t take offense. I know and understand the trauma you’ve gone through. We all have to deal with those things the way it works best for us. Don’t worry about anyone else’s feelings and just worry about you!Ellen- it will look like mine, very soon. I just know it!
