Just wanted to take a minute to plug an incredible book by an incredible woman.
If you get a chance to read this book, please do. It is a memoir about a girl who went through the foster care system at age 3, went through 14 different foster homes, and didn’t get adopted until she was 12 years old! Her story is incredible and her strength at such a young age is admirable.
Ashley came to speak at our annual Junior League dinner and did a book signing. She is such an interesting young woman! She has really inspired me to do more for our foster children here in the Tampa Bay area- which I consider my own personal project for the summer. At the young age of 23 she has accomplished more than most people accomplish in a lifetime.
Did you know that less than 2% of foster children go on to attend college, let alone finish high school? Ashley not only graduated from high school, but she graduated from college with dual majors and will be attending law school in the fall. She also had a class action suit against one of her foster parents when she was only a teenager!
YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.
As they say at Nike- Just do it!
